EQOS is pleased to announce a new acquisition for its fleet: the Hilton 8×4 road-rail lorry. EQOS is pleased to announce a new acquisition for its fleet: the Hilton 8×4 road-rail lorry. With one of the largest road-rail fitting vehicles for catenary lines, which was presented at the International Exhibition for Track Technology (iaf) in Münster, EQOS Energie Österreich GmbH can now deploy the latest technology for their customers. The purchase of this multifunctional installation and maintenance vehicle represents a generational shift for the EQOS fleet.

Carsten Kuhle, Managing Director of Railway Technology at EQOS Energie: “The Hilton lorry is an investment in our railway technology. In order to meet all functional requirements of the operators down to the last detail, the vehicle was developed and conceptualised in close cooperation between the manufacturer and our experts. It has the maximum functional equipment for deployment on rail in order to perform installation and maintenance of catenary systems. Once the approval tests are completed, it will be used in Austrian long-distance traffic very soon.”

Enormous innovation boost for EQOS Energie’s Railway Technology division

As one of the leading European infrastructure service providers, EQOS is characterised by the highest level of technical quality in the implementation of innovation-driven projects. With two hydrostatically driven bogies, a Palfinger triple platform, catenary wire presser and PKR crane, Hilton sets new standards for the performance of road-rail vehicles in this area. What was previously only possible with traditional railbound vehicles can now also be done with much more compact and flexible road-rail vehicles. “This new vehicle makes access to the construction sites, both on rail and road, much easier and more flexible. This shortens deployment times and simplifies work execution. The technologies applied to the new Hilton vehicle, which also include modern safety controls, as well as perfect processing jointly contribute to maximum reliability during deployment,” said Bernhard Schuller, head of the profit centre Catenary Systems Austria at EQOS Energie.

A traffic transformation is indispensable for climate protection

Installation work for railway network operators is one of EQOS Energie’s core competencies. Modern powerful railway infrastructure is an important component in creating the traffic transformation, which is urgently required in the fight against climate change. In this respect, the construction of new railway lines is as important as upgrades of existing infrastructure.
With this purchase, EQOS is now in a position to make an even more efficient contribution to achieving this ambitious goal – also in terms of evolving an ecologically sustainable location for business.
