630 years of experience and many personal stories

14. October 2026
  • 630 years of shared EQOS experience at the anniversary event
  • The focus was on personal encounters and memories
  • Under the motto ‘Your Q’, the focus spanned from yesterday through today to tomorrow

Personal stories, shared experiences and, above all, a huge thank you for many years of dedication: for two days, the spotlight at KölnSKY was on EQOS employees celebrating their anniversaries. Colleagues from different units and various locations gathered there to celebrate their full and half-anniversaries. Together, these employees bring 630 years of EQOS experience to the table. The backdrop could hardly have been more fitting: Cologne Cathedral, which took a total of 632 years to build.

“Your Q” connects yesterday, today and tomorrow

In line with the EQOS employer branding campaign, the event was held under the motto “Your Q – yesterday. today. tomorrow.” Everyone at EQOS contributes their own experiences, strengths and perspectives. In a service company in particular, it is the people who make the difference. This commitment is evident in our day-to-day interactions, in our collaboration across departmental and location boundaries, and in our shared commitment to finding the best solution for our clients. The anniversary event highlighted how past experiences shape the present whilst also laying an important foundation for the future. Employees’ personal ‘Q’ therefore also stands for the quality that defines EQOS. It links past experiences with what sustains us today and what is set to grow further tomorrow.

Engaging in open dialogue

During a fireside chat with CEO Eric Mendel and Marius Huber, Head of SSU Group Human Resources, participants were able to ask questions in small groups and speak openly about topics relating to the company. This format is particularly close to Eric Mendel’s heart: “The experience and loyalty of our long-serving staff are of inestimable value to EQOS. They know our company, take on responsibility and pass on their knowledge to others. This is precisely where their personal ‘Q’ shines through. It shaped EQOS in the past, makes us strong today and helps us to continue growing successfully tomorrow. For this, I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all those celebrating their anniversaries.”

Another item on the programme took participants around 25 metres below the Rhine. During a visit to the district heating tunnel, attendees gained an insight into how the networks in Cologne city centre and Deutz are connected. This behind-the-scenes look thus also highlighted the unifying theme of the event: bringing people, knowledge and experience together.

Memories that bring us together

Things took on a particularly personal tone during a collective journey through time. It began for each participant in the year they had started their professional career at EQOS. Photos from years gone by, personal anecdotes and messages from colleagues brought many memories back to life. There was laughter, storytelling and reminiscing about special projects as well as challenging times. This highlighted just how varied career paths can be, and yet what unites them: mutual support, trust and the determination to find solutions together.

Passing on experience and shaping the future

Long-serving staff play an essential role in preserving and passing on knowledge within the company and in supporting new colleagues. Their experience helps to successfully navigate change and provide guidance. A workshop therefore focused on the question of how the experiences of the long-serving staff members can be utilised even more effectively in the future for the further development of EQOS.

Tanja, who has been with EQOS for 25 years, is enthusiastic about this format: “I really enjoyed the event. Apart from the fact that the venue is unique, I thought it was brilliant that we had such close contact with our CEO – we’ve never experienced him like that in such a relaxed atmosphere before. It was great to meet the other colleagues.”

Every work anniversary tells its own story. Together, these stories form important chapters in EQOS’s corporate history. That is why we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those celebrating their anniversaries: for your loyalty, your daily commitment and your very own ‘Q’.
