  • Planned increase in capacity and availability of railway lines in the Leipzig area
  • Strengthening the location through efficient connection to the Leuna chemical park
  • EQOS Energie impresses with its cross-trade portfolio

Climate protection, the energy transformation, and long-term positive economic development go hand in hand. This is particularly evident in a project which is currently being implemented by EQOS Energie’s Railway Technology business unit: As part of the renovation of a Deutsche Bahn crossroad structure at the Großkorbetha station, the Technical Equipment Germany profit center will install the technical systems, thereby also making a decisive contribution to strengthening the location in Saxony-Anhalt. The project is scheduled to run from July 2025 to the end of 2027, with a project volume of about EUR 4.5 million for EQOS Energie.

Solutions that benefit society and the environment

“A modern rail infrastructure is essential for shifting more traffic to environmentally friendly rail transport. The business sector in particular needs a modern, efficient and reliable network. The construction project in Großkorbetha will facilitate an efficient connection to the Leuna chemical park and is therefore very important for strengthening the location,” said Carsten Kuhle, Managing Director and Head of the Railway Technology business unit at EQOS Energie.

“We are very pleased that we can use our expertise in the field of railway technology to contribute to positive economic development and thus to sustainable prosperity. After all, the Leuna chemical site provides jobs for more than 12,000 people. EQOS Energie is committed to reconciling modern lifestyles with climate protection,” Kuhle continued.

EQOS Energy provides state-of-the-art technical equipment

The crossroad structure to be renovated, which provides an overpass intersection of two railway lines and is located in the vicinity of the station (an important railway junction in central Germany), is more than 100 years old and has reached the end of its service life. EQOS Energie is responsible for installing electrotechnical systems and control and signalling technology systems. Furthermore, the company will implement the best possible energy structure.

“The project includes the electrical engineering for the power supply of the station, for heating the turnouts and for lighting the tracks, as well as the implementation of the control and safety technology and cable stringing, for which EQOS Energie has been prequalified by Deutsche Bahn as an infrastructure supplier,” said Marco Bauer, Head of the Technical Equipment Germany profit center at EQOS Energie.

“In the tendering process, we were able to convince the customer with our portfolio covering all four basic trades and with our extensive project experience and our renowned first-class service standards,” Bauer added. The project will be implemented in 20 construction phases and the EQOS Energie team will consist of five fitters, up to two senior fitters, two site managers, and a project manager.
